Need Help Flashing with Bootloader

  • I just finished building my 256 and everything went fine up until:

    http://docs.monome.org/doku.php?id=tech:mk:flash#flash_device_using_bootloader

    whenever i enter: make16x16

    it shows me:

    avrdude -p m325 -b 115200 -P /dev/tty.usbserial-m0000776 -c arduino -e -D -U flash:w:mk16x16.hex:i
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding

    avrdude done. Thank you.

    make: *** [16x16] Error 1

and then in maxpatches like the tester or mlr, only the upper left 8x8 work as buttons/keys, yet it still has the ability to light up the whole monome.

    what did i do wrong?

    thanks

  • If serialosc is running, you need to stop it before you do the 'make' command:

"make sure that you're not running serialosc or any other application which will use the serial port for this device."

Did you also activate the bootloader by shorting out the pins as described in the how to?

  • Ah, that was it. serialosc was running in the background. Had to go to activity monitor to quit it. Is there any way to launch it again, or is a computer restart needed?

Also is it a problem that my activity monitor is now showing 2 of them?

  • You should see n+1 devices where n is the number of devices you have plugged in.

There should be a serialosc-start.sh script:

    http://docs.monome.org/doku.php?id=app:serialosc

Failing that a reboot will do.
