Correct. 10 official, plus one user creation which is truly unique and beautiful in the world (tanais fox made his with the now defunct monome kits. solid aluminum body. weighs a ton. he almost sold it last year, but came to his senses)

You'll have better luck buying two 256s I think then finding an owner that wants to sell their 512.

Want is a strong word. But the world is harsh, and sometimes reality conspires against us. (If you should find a seller, be kind to them, for they are having a very bad stretch of time.)

Yes "want" is quite strong! :) My English is not very good! (I'm french nobody's perfect!:)) C1t1zen you're right! Two 256 would be fantastic... I have a lot to do with one and I'll see after..:)

did the 512 not show up as 2x256 anyway? Buy 2x256s and make your own enclosure ;-)

That is a very interesting thought indeed!

(Not one of the 512s out there support per-LED variable brightness, so the opportunity does exist to outdo all of them)

I sold my 256 because I felt guilty using only half of it. 128 is perfectly fine for me.
It is probably a better idea to start small and grow if you feel the need to.

You're right Karaokaze and 100p... I should first use all lights of course... Begin not too big... Maybe a 128 is fine 100p yes.... But Plane on a 512 seems so nice.... And I'm a big fan of lights too... I have a Reactable too which is fantastic...
About the synths Karaokaze I have vintage ones and some instruments made with a very little serial number.... I take care of them ..:)))

128 is my favorite model. I bought two. :)

i started with a gs64 in february 2013, bought a gs128 in august or september, sold the gs128 in december and bought a walnut 256 also in december... well, i guess 2013 was my magical year of the monome.. lol.
now i'm done with buying buttonboxes (for the moment), because the 256 is what i need.. no more no less ; )

I think if "plane" is your primary app, it totally justifies the 512. Most anything else at that scale, I sort of think 8x32 would be better.

I don't want to use only Plane...But could be on my top list soft that I would use.. I would like to use the Monome with my Reactable.. I have to find an intelligent way to use them together..Anyway I have ordered a 256 for the moment so I will see how it will be..:)))
