-
tomorrow we post everything. crazy hectic until then.
-
also trying very hard not to get distracted playing it.
-
I am now quite distracted as well... :-)
-
really hoping for arc integration. would consider doing a euro/monome row.
-
Yes! Keep them coming :)
-
One of the few times I'm looking forward to a Monday.
-
Go Brian! Excited to see what's up with this one...
-
@raja could be wrong but i think its a not-so-veiled reference to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthsea
-
ugh...another one!? haven't even mastered the other two yet!!!
-
Love the Le Guin reference! Especially after her recent comments on the state of our collective affairs... :-)
I too would LOVE Arc support, but am not holding my breath for it... :-( -
Awesome!
-
Exciting! And lovely Name. Would like to have it just cause of it...
-
edge and pos outputs.
hmm.
edge - gate/trigger when the wave/lfo changes direction?
pos - a summed version of the three wave outputs? -
the knobs are marked specifically for pos/neg operation -
Le Guinn mentioned Monome community where?!
-
I was not refering to monome community, but a larger "us"...
here is a good bit from her recent speech:
“We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art—the art of words.”

OK, looks awesome.
I can see how this could be "time consuming" :-) -
preordered!
-
Cool. Hey is anyone planning on putting stretta's polygome into one of these things? I think it would be a whizzer fit ;)
-
you can do polygome with earthsea.
-
y'all always be posting things before i'm finished typing!
-
So it does.
Looks very playable! -
Sorry if im being a bit thick here...where is the clock in?
-
iam running out of hp space to fit in earthsea and i wonder if the functionality can be done in aleph instead..
-
@si good question!
i think so -
@thopa
there's no clock input! patterns are not synchronized by design opting for more of a playable instrument approach than tempo-locked playback.
@si
indeed an earthsea for aleph could be created. i know there's some memory challenges but it should be possible. hopefully this isn't too difficult so as to happen sooner than later. -
ah, thats prolly a good exercise for aleph, perhaps not to replicate all the functions(in case of overtaxing on the memory part) but to have selected few and have it on aleph.
Haha, got to say that first thing that came to mind on seeing earthsea, is to count the knobs and jacks to see if its able to fit in aleph -
well clearly it's limited there, but of course the aleph lets you route the 'cv' internally to dsp parameters. much to explore, and many problems to solve to have it make sense in that context.
-
Thanks for the clarification, i really do suck at playing any instruments, thats probably why i got so many sequencers.
-
Gee I'd really miss a clock in on this. No tempo synced arps/playback?
-
i wish polygome worked like that...any chance that could be a max patch/app to send midi like polygome
-
i know the arp is fun and everything, but has nobody considered the shape-memory recall of 3 cv's plus slewing? it's like rene plus mutable frames. it's seriously amazing. timbral transformations that are controllable in a totally different way.
clock in/out were not included because they're not the most intuitive in this case, and it wasn't meant to be the focus of the module. come january we'll have a module that can communicate with others to add this, and reset to whale, etc. -
could be an incredibly fun way to drum
-
it's such an exciting time!
-
I am impressed and inspired.
When will this be available?
Also re: clock.
I think I understand the idea of clock-less improvisation as a much welcome addition to the modular environment. BUT especially when thinking about arpeggios, it seems that an option to sync would be very meaningful... Furthermore, when grid is unplugged to control the other modules, with no visual feedback on what is happening, having a uniform clock structure between modules would be useful.
SO
I may be misunderstanding, but @tehn are you suggesting that there is an upcoming module that would facilitate the possibility of syncing earthsea to other monome modules? If that is the case, then I am at peace about no clock input... -
not to make this a war
but
count me in the no clock camp :) -
not a war at all!
although I am always in the "have a choice" camp :-)
regardless: I can't wait to try this guy out!!! -
Yes! Let's make this a war!
I am in the no-choice camp! Fascism for all! -
ha ha ha... :-)
mostly. -
I clock therefore I am.
-
does that mean 'no clock therefore your're not' ?
-
or: "I am therefore no clock"...
-
I am not Earthsea, correct.
-
hah!
understand the desire for clock input but as with everything eurorack there is a tradeoff between size, functionality and price.
earthsea is really super fun. seriously! -
will we see earthsea on the aleph like the others?
-
the rate of releases is doing my head in, goodness knows how little sleep everyone there must be getting
