I really want to strap it on...

  • How's that for a dirty title? :)

Anyway after playing around with Bassonome i've had the idea in my head to play my monome (a Greyscale 128) standing up with it attached to my body somehow. I've been trying to think of a way to do this with out having to physically alter my monome... (no drilling or attaching a ton of velcro)

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions for me?

  • pauk will have some suggestions. he built a little holster that he attached to a guitar strap. totally rockin'. no alterations to monome necessary. pics are coming from last nights performance.

  • pauk's setup sort of reminded me of the way washboard players wear them around their neck, like this guy:

What would be totally awesome (imho) is to find one of these:

...and mount a 256 to the middle of it.

  • still cant touch play on the monomer...we should decide on home keys.heh.

  • my trick was to get three "door hooks", they have the same width as the monome, attach them to some kind of faceplate.

    800 x 450 - 54K
  • Thanks Pauk... that was exactly the sort of thing i was looking for :)

  • get a pair of y-fronts, tie some string either end, slide your 'nome into the underpants, then you can rock out with one hand down your 'pants and the giving it some serious italo finger.

    sorted! :)

  • that would be one of the strangest live acts i can think of this early in the morn ;]

awesome setup pauk, got some live video coming down the tubes?

  • hi lokey, i don't have a video of this last show, i will upload some pictures, but if you want to check a video this is one of my last gig in barcelona:

  • Nice vid Pau!

  • What I said on the other thread about pauk's performance, how molar resembled a cross between mlr and a twinkling starfield: it's really evident in this video at about 1:17. It looks like some of the loops are flashing dimly, giving it this effect.

Can anyone (or pauk) tell me what's going on here to produce this effect?

  • cheers pauk!

@nari, i dunno what he uses, but i use an led intensity message m4l patch controlled by the master volume, makes all the leds go bright when the volume pumps and dim when its quiet...

  • I'm coming to the conclusion that I will never get around to building it but.....

... A gold star goes to the person who builds a monome/accordion hybrid. Replace the bass notes with monome buttons, replace the keys with a small midi keyboard. Bellow could control the velocity...

  • awesome performance pauk!

    @revenant
    there's always the concertinome:

  • @lokey -- sounds awesome! Is this patch available?

  • @nari
Hi, ok I think I know what you are asking for...
With molar the leds don't just go from left to right following the loop,
As i show you, you can rearrange the loop, and then the leds follow the rearranged points.

  • @pauk, thanks that makes sense. I'm diving into molar right now and hopefully will be making my own twinkling starfields soon. =)

  • Tell me if i can help you paucabruja at gmail dot com
I know it can be really difficult to find what you want in the molar thread.
