Includes integrated BEAP... -
And Max 6.1.8 released today. I always find upgrading Max a real hassle because of the extra packages and files that I've copied into the Max folders that I have to go and gather up to paste into the new Max folders.
#firstworldproblems -
integrated BEAP. amazing.
-
ditto on BEAP! That's rad.
@declutter - I believe since this is still 6.1..., you don't have to worry about any of that. I just ran the installer and all of my patches and packages are still there under Max 6.1, nice and safe. -
"Gen editing is now free for all Max 6 users"
does this mean it's not an extra $100 anymore?
might be just the push i need to upgrade from max for live. -
for those with maxforlive it seems the upgrade is now $239, from the usual $300, plus and extra $100 for gen.
good deal. -
the BEAP thing is interesting. it basically allows for two tier users - hardcore types will still be able to do all their usual max stuff and those who just want to make some noise with sci fi looking patch cables can just get stuck in. I wonder will there be native monome objects too? that would be pretty neat.
-
Doesn't beap have monome stuff built in by default? Unless it's going to be a special subset of beap objects
-
I didn't really get it... is Gen now free ?
-
Yeah, some confusion... salamanderanagram meant plus extra $100 before to the 300.. Now it's included. From their site:
With the announcement of Max 7, Gen is no longer an add-on product. It is included in all Max 6 purchases. -
how much is the upgrade usually from one version to the next?
-
@Rodrigo @oootini
We'll have to keep an eye on it. Poking around the repository, It looks as though there's already been some structural re-organization to BEAP folder structure for Max 7. Also, interestingly, renaming instances of "monome" to "serialosc".
Maybe this is a way for all the monome stuff to stay in without having Cycling74/Ableton be all like "what's with all this monome specific stuff?"
https://github.com/stretta/BEAP -
oh yeah my comment was poorly worded.
i meant you now get gen with max for $239, before it was $400. -
Does this new login setup instead of serials mean, I don't have to buy Max for each system or that I can login to many machines and use it or will I only be able to login and use one machine at a time?
-
Excited for integrated pitch shifting into audio sample based objects. That alone is worth the upgrade for me. Hope it sounds good..
-
+1 for muppets on crack
helping me forget I paid for gen~ and haven't used it yet.. -

;) -
i went for it
-
don't know what the holy fuck i am doing with it but i did it.
-
heck ya dude
-
does the integrated pitch shifting mean that we might be able to integrate pitch into mlr while maintaining the loop speed? If so that would be siiiiick!!!
oh and by "we" i mean someone who could actually do something like that haha -
@megamaeng yes, should do.
I actually implemented this with a third party external a while ago. sounded pretty phasey though. -
Nice. I'm actually hoping to implement the opposite. (dynamic playback speed with pitch fully or partially offset back to original, perhaps with a slower glide time) Should be a trip.
-
both is always better :)
taking a single note/chord then stretching it out to a few mins long was pretty fun for drones. -
getting pretty excited at the prospect of fine tuning loops so that they work together in mlr without having to go into ableton!
