  • Can't get my new monome to function?
On 10.7 you need the ftdi driver; http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm Apologies if you already tried that. Good luck!

Thanks so much galapagoose, this makes sum much more useable for me. And we can now swap patches!

  • which serial osc?
Cleared all the serial osc max patch files and used one that elquinto posted, it now recognises the grid and leaves the serialosc box there so I can rotate. Just in case it helps, it was the 7 december 2014 version!

@elquinto, ok so maybe today is going to be a good monome day! that version of serial osc works great, thanks so much.

  • which serial osc?
Ok so the latest one is from the customise page, the older one from github which says it's the latest version (just incase that's useful for anyone), both of them are blank for me apart from a place to connect grid on the upper left, older…

OK, thanks, i've only ever used it on a 64 before now. I'm having one of those nights! Now I can't get the serialosc maxpatch (from 9Jan2015) to recognise my grid (or do anything at all). So irritating, seems to be a million versions …

  • is there a difference between grid vs 128?
Just got mine and I love it. Such a great finish. A lighter grey than I expected, really nice. Very solid and reassuringly weighty.

Thanks for that and it does now recognise the 128. I don't know whether I'm doing something dumb but it seems to just see the 128 as a 64 so it only uses the left hand side and it's in the wrong orientation (rotated through 90 clockwi…

I love this app but can't get it to recognise my new 128. Using the new 1.10 serialosc port. loads into max 6.1.9 runtime fine, but there's nowhere to set my grid. Any ideas?

  • suggestions for dual grids
Actually, looking at the video, all eight 'sliders' on the 64 are doing something, so maybe my ideas about the aalto integration are wrong.

  • suggestions for dual grids
I'm awaiting delivery. I'm sure mesh will be a lot of fun and maybe enough on its own to convince me to keep the gs64, it is a beautiful thing and I've seen some newer 64s going crazy cheap on here lately so maybe it's not worth …

Oh damn, that's brilliant, not bad for an old guy (forum title does read like that now, thanks raja). The info does help, thanks for that, amazing it's from that tiny mic, I love all that noisy stuff which sounds massive and micro at the s…

  • Old Rodrigo performance question
Ah OK its called a lavalier mic i think (like someone on tv would wear on their lapel). I guess its not dynamic because of the tiny detail it picks up. Still want to know whether those pops and clicks are primarily live or if that's what Party …

  • noise coming from new 128 grid
I remember there being a software solution to turning down brightness, so you shouldn't have to do anything with the hardware. Ah found it; http://monome.org/community/discussion/8216/x Check tehns patch in there, it's from 2010 so I'…

  • noise coming from new 128 grid
@tehn. I like to work pretty quiet (paper thin walls) and was thinking of upgrading to the new 128 from my gs64, I've always wanted to use mlr on 128. When you say looking for a solution do you mean hardware or firmware? I.e. is this something …

Thanks for the replies galapagoose and laborcamp. Yeah I wouldn't be so worried about it if my workflow didn't involve lots of varispeed time changes in logic. Shifting an imperceptibly high wine down an octave can put it right there in yo…

Hey what a great way to get back into the monome flow. I have a few questions after watching all the vimeo tutotials; 1. would a gs64 (non varibright) be able to take advantage of all the features in white whale? I saw tehn plug one in at one point …

Hey, thanks. It's great to get such a specific reply which I can test out in a methodical way. And I was using a multi-band limiter (lazy hip hop preset) thinking it would make everything nice and loud and punchy, noob.
